Welcome to Sleeping Disorders 365! The Sleep Disorder Center of Louisiana is a place that strives to help those who suffer from sleeping disorders that unfortunately affect daily life.

It was opened in March of 2000 by Dr. Kaimal. They help to treat those who suffer from sleep disorders including sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, insomnia, narcolepsy, and more. There are sleep studies conducted here that help in the study of sleeping disorders.

The center works hard to ensure that the patients who come to visit are comfortable and have even decorated the sleep labs just like real bedrooms. Their website can be found at www.sleepdisordercenterofla.com .

A Quick List of Sleep Disorders

Welcome to Sleeping Disorders 365! There are so many sleep disorder people suffer from. I am going to show a list of the many sleeping disorders that I have found in my research. Here is a short list of sleep disorders:

Sleep apnea - trouble breathing
Narcolepsy - suddenly fall asleep
Insomnia - cannot fall asleep
Night Terrors - usually in kids
Restless leg syndrome - legs feel like they need to be constantly moving
Bed wetting - more common in kids
Sleep Walking - affects approx. 10 percent of the population
Night Sweats - can be caused by what you eat, changes in hormone levels, and medication

Welcome to Sleeping Disorders 365! There are many famous people with sleeping disorders throughout history. There have been poets, politicians, authors, scientists, and many other famous persons who have had problems sleeping.

Though they may not have been able to sleep through a night like many of us are able to do, that doesn't mean they weren't able to overcome their sleep disorders and become extremely successful. A few famous people who suffered from sleeping disorders are Abraham Lincoln, Marilyn Monroe, and William Shakespeare.

Abraham Lincoln was one of America's most well-known presidents, Marilyn Monroe was an extremely famous American actress, and William Shakespeare was an incredibly successful author.

Sleeping Disorders 365Sleeping Disorders 365 says that NREM parasomnias are an arousal disorder that happens during sleep stage 3 and sleep stage 4 of NREM sleep, which is often referred to as slow wave sleep.

These parasomnias are a result of physiological activation in where the individual's brain exits from slow wave sleep and becomes stuck between a sleep state and a wakening state. Sleeping disorders 365 says that this parasomnias also result in the activation of the autonomic nervous system, but can also affect the motor system in the body in some cases it can affect the cognitive processes during sleep or sleep wake transitions in the sleep cycle.

It usually starts in childhood but decrease as age increases.

Sleeping Disorders 365Sleeping Disorder 365 says that delayed sleep phase syndrome (DSPS) is a circadian rhythm sleep disorder which encompasses a continuous disruption in sleep patters.
It can also have peak periods of alertness, can fluctuate body temperate in the core and can most definitely disrupt hormone balance and other rhythms that can relate to norms in society.

Individuals that have delayed sleep phase syndrome usually fall asleep okay but have enormous struggles in waking up in the morning. Many people who have this syndrome say they have trouble falling asleep until early in the morning but do see consistency in the time in which they fall asleep on a daily basis.

Sleeping Disorders 365 says that these individuals do have a need for normal sleep but they just have difficulties waking up in time for things such as work and appointments.

Welcome to Sleeping Disorders 365! Many sleep disorders are still being studied to figure out what's really going on. A sleep disorder expert, neurologist Dr. David Duhon, studies those who have a difficult time sleeping.

For these studies you are required to sleep at a clinic for the night and your body is watched. Many have issues with insomnia, some simply toss and turn and can't sleep, but others sometimes wake up in the middle of the night in a terrible panic.

These panic attacks during the night can cause chest pain and difficulty breathing for many people. A disorder called obstructive sleep apnea is when someone is sleeping the muscle become so relaxed that they can't properly oxygenate their blood because they aren't getting proper air flow to their lungs.

To some extent this oral parafunctional activity occurs to most people as they sleep but not to the severity as those individuals that suffer from Bruxism. This disorder is cause by the activation of reflex chewing activity. It is important to note that this is not a habit that is learned. Chewing is controlled by a reflexive nerve pathway and a higher control stemming from the brains.

During sleep this higher control is inactive and the reflexive control takes over thus causing Bruxism to occur. Sleeping Disorders 365 says for the most part this is not enough to become a health concern, but in some individuals it can be.

In a society where people are addicted to caffeine and many are staying up very late at night, there are still those who are afflicted with a disease called narcolepsy where people have trouble staying awake.

Narcolepsy affects 1 in every 1000 people and is a lot more common than one would think. There is no cure for narcolepsy but many modern drugs have made it much easier for those that suffer from it allowing them to sleep almost only at night.

Narcolepsy usually doesn't show up until someone is in their 20's and can often go without a diagnosis for an additional ten years more. The disease is very real and is affecting a lot more people than we realize.
